RE: Tour T- Shirts Over The Years

I've noticed on Ebay the 1981 North American Tour Raindrop black with the "rounded off" version of the lips and tongue and tongue covered with the Stars And Stripes on the front, and The US covered by the Union Jack on the back with "The Stones" above, is rather sought after.

I love that T-shirt, at least, I used to, until everybody who never saw that tour now got one, and I don't like that. I've wore it to several Stones shows and everybody would ask about it, now many others have it, so it's not as special anymore. But as it was, in '81 when the wife and I went to that show, we were broke and we said we would not buy anything at the show, then I saw that T on sale and I told Sue I just had to have it, and if she let me buy it, I would just not eat any food for a few days so I could afford to get it. She said okay and decided to do the same thing and brought something else that she wanted, and for the next few days we really didn't eat anything other than have some bread and water while making sure we had some food left in the house for the kids to eat. That's how crazy we were back then for the Stones. So that T, which still fits me today, was always special to me, although it's not a rare T anymore.... I also once had another favorite T which had to be one of the very first with the lips logo that ever came out, with a cool drawing of Mick's face on the edge of the tongue, very cool T indeed. I have never again seen anybody with that same T. I was in my late teens when I got that and wore it for several years until it got torn real bad and also didn't fit me anymore. But Sue got to rid of it one day when I wasn't home, since it was in bad shape, but she didn't tell me what she did, so I figured it was just lost, then my daughter told me several months later that it wasn't lost, but mom had tossed it one day cause it looked like a rag. But I still loved that T, rag or not.
