RE: RE: RE: Your Sticky Fingers bonus LP/CD?

> It's not a horrible comp, but next to what was done for Exile and Some Girls maybe it feels second rate. Like they didn't really try to do it all the way this time.<

Perhaps some, yourself included, are too bothered by the fact The Stones did not gather in a studio to "work" on this project. These guys are well into their 70s and I hear a difference in their "work" at this stage in their career compared to 1970-71 ! For me the work done in 1970-71 is far superior. There is nothing 2nd rate about it at all. It is First Rate work which has been in the vaults, and is now, thankfully, released.

>As far as Mick doing new vocals....I'm very mixed.<

We are close to agreement here. I lean towards him Not doing new vocals though. What could have sounded 2nd Rate, is Jagger overdubbing his present singing style on old outtakes from the Sticky era.

I'll take his 1970s vocals on the "Big Bitch" and the Roundhouse cuts any day.

>In the case of an instrumental like I'm assuming Plundered My Soul was, you can't argue with the results. It's the best Mick has sounded since Tattoo You.<

I just gave PMS another listen. I know I am in the minority of people who speak of this song here, but I do not particularly like Jagger's singing on that one. I rarely spin that song. And he has definitely laid down better vocals since Tattoo You. I like his vocals on Doom And Gloom better for example. And I can instantly think of many other Stones songs since TY on which Mick's vocals are better - Saint Of Me, Out Of Control, Blinded By Rainbows, Out Of Tears, and for MEZ, Jump On Top Of Me! The list would go on and be a long one on my end.

I do like his vocals on 'Keep Up Blues', from the SG Bonus. The band sounded great on that song too.

I'm not being unfriendly here mikeeder. And I am not being argumentative for the sake of argument. We just see things very differently. I have faith the songs on your comp will one day be released.

Many here are itching for a new Stones album, or new lyrics, vocals and guitar overdubs to transform old unreleased and unfinished songs from the past into new songs.

I like the quality of the band in the early 70s. I like top quality over something new for the sake of something new.

Listen to the quality of the cuts from the Roundhouse in '71 ! The band was at the height of it's game! Why is it only 2000Man and myself have noticed the band was on fire and the recording is dynamite?!!

If there are anymore pristine soundboards of the band on fire like that back in the late sixties to early seventies then I will gladly throw my hard earned money at The Stones to own them!

I get great pleasure out of listening to great live performances like that from my favorite band!

And the 'Big Bitch', for however unrefined she may be, is the sexiest, strongest Rock And Roll Chick to come to our Rock Party in a very long time! You keep putting her "home" down and she is going to come to Your home and slap your face off!

She told me to tell you that.

You have been warned. :)
