I had heard the term originated in Alaska. When the natives were out on a trip they would sleep with their dogs from the dog sled to keep warm. And really cold nights would be three dogs to keep warm. I thought I had heard one of the band members had been to Alaska, or maybe had a family member or something. It just made sense with the dog sleds up there and the way they rely on dogs. imo
