The UK LP is my favorite Stones release. Hard to believe they never have done much of it or Between The Buttons live, especially since 1967. Actually maybe it's good, they never would get it right without Brian. I remember how awful their attempts at 1966-67 stuff was on the 1989-90 tour was, Mick's voice was way too deep and ironic for one. Of course it was better than the new crap they were trying to do. I have no patience for post Tattoo Stones at all really! Even the 1981-82 tour isn't to my taste. I love 1963-67, and really, really like 1968-78 but since then nothing holds up except Tattoo.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one feeling this way! Too many people seem to think that the 63-67 Stones were just getting "warmed up" and that the band truly, really became great in 1968. Puh-lease!
"Aftermath" is my favourite too. But as I said earlier in this thread, my "Aftermath" is a combination of the US and UK releases. Try mixing the two together, you will see what an incredibly awesome album it is! Just talking about it makes me want to spin it.

I don't think it had anything to do with the Stones. I'm pretty sure it was an industry thing. The same thing was happening with the Beatles' albums.
