RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: This week's polls!

Yes, I have the IORR book. I agree...it's fantastic. I don't have any Beatles books and I really should read up a little on them. I will check out that book you suggested. I have several albums of theirs and, like everyone else, have heard, learned and know so many of their songs from hearing them on the radio for so many years.

It's funny...I have a friend who is a Stones fan. Not a die hard, but close. Named her daughter Angie. LOVES Mick Jagger or should I say LOVED. Like me with the Beatles, she had several Stones albums but, even as an AVID reader, never read a book on the Stones. Knowing how big a Stones fan I am, she asked if I could reccomend a book for her to read about them. I gave her my favorite book, Up And Down With The Rolling Stones, to read. She finished the book over a weekend and when she gave me the book back, she was "fake" angry with me for letting her read it! She was appalled to read how MJ and KR treated Brian. It kind of ruined her image of the Glimmers, especially her Mick!

The point of all this is....maybe, sometimes ,we shouldn't read up on our heroes! When you learn about all the skeletons in their closets and the dirt that surrounds them, it can alter the way you feel about them. It's too late for me with the Stones, lol. But my image of the Beatles was that they were squeaky clean, got along with each other, loved each other and were as much the lollipop band that they portrayed earlier. Slowly over the years, without really digging, I learned of some of the darker stuff that went on in their circle and was quite surprised. Even though they were billed as the good guys and the Stones as the bad guys...they were really quite similar in a lot of ways!
