The Beatles were one of a kind, no question about it. You should pick up some books on them and get to know who they really were. My favorite book on them, which to me is the Beatles bible, is The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn. If you ever read the very popular Stones sessions book, written by my friend James Karnback, called It's Only Rock n Roll (if you haven't read this one, it's a must for Stones fans, and I'm not saying this because my friend wrote it), well this Beatles book is a lot like that one, as it explains how each song was recorded, going day by day in the studio, using the official session tapes and notes as the only source. Check out both books I would say to anybody who hasn't read them before and who are fans of either group, they are both that good!
