RE: RE: one thing

My original post was an attempt at humor and my arrow wasn't aimed directly at Keno but if he wants to step in front of the target and make it all about him, then so be it. I will try not to get off the topic of this thread.

The good news is that VW's original post lead 2000Man to a great deal on tickets and raised awareness that there are alternatives to the more expensive tickets. But the funny thing is, there has always been nonconventional ways to avoid the face value Ticketmaster ticket if the "true" fan only did his homework. Fact. Oh, believe me, I have been force to pay more then I wanted (like the last minute face value ticket with no service charge) at high demand shows like D.C. but that is not the norm.

A point I would like to make is that the Stones do not set ticket prices. The ticket games that you see, for the most part, are the promoters and ticket brokers. The Stones set their price for each show and then don't concern themselves about who is paying how much or what for a VIP ticket. I don't think you will find Jagger sitting at a desk punching the keys on a calculator and pouring over the nights ticket receipts. Would anyone really begrudge The Stones from charging what they feel they are worth. They do set the standard and have helped many musicians reach a financial level that allows them to make a living touring. Do you really think the Stones or any band should adjust the going market price to fit your budget? Or should they do it because someone somewhere is deserving? Which leads to this, the setting of the ticket prices is all on the promoter.

When the Stones organization does get involved in the tickets, it is very fan friendly. These things include the Lucky Dip tickets that you get to following a link through their website, cheap tickets for the one off warm up and club shows that Ticketmaster and AEG can't get a piece of and the papering of tickets the day of the show which allows plenty of walk ups a cheap entrance to non-sold out shows. Fact.

Sure that front row seat is expensive, but hey, there are only so many of those available and you were not going to sit there anyway. Should we make up a trivia test to determine who the REAL fans are that deserve to sit up front? Ridiculous.

Keno, I was not bitching at you, I was poking fun at the silliness of bitching about ticket prices. If my humor came off as bitching, either my post failed in its purpose or someone does not like the message. This conversation could just as easy be about the price of cars. The price is what it is. If you think a BMW costs too much, adjust your expectations. I know you don't think you complain about it that much, but I have heard you complain for at least 10 years or more on many, many occasions. Of course you have that right and if I was only looking at the best seat ticket prices, I might join the bitch fest. All I ask is that you realize that the top ticket price is not the standard across the board and to point your concerns and complaints to the people that are trying to make money playing the game with tickets. It is too easy and lacking in thought to say its the Stones that are fleecing the fans. Don't get caught up in the hype. And by the way, the Stones owe me and you nothing. They put out a product, pick it up or let it lay there. The choice is yours.
