Baseball was the one sport I was real good at and I played it into my 40s (well, softball from my teens on). But as I got older I found it a bore to watch on TV, but it's still fun to go out to the ballpark if one is near you. My grandson will be in high school next year, which around here means still going to the same school, as there is only one school for all grades, but sports wise it means next year he will play with the older kids. But they have no baseball team! They got football, basketball, and in the spring, track, but no baseball. He played basketball last year and was one of the 2 top players on his team, but I keep telling him that next year he'll be one of the smaller guys on the team and may never get to play at all. So now he also wants to be on the high school football team, but we may not allow that. When professional NFL players say they will not let their own teen kids play football, that tells a parent something. But basketball is safe enough, and my boy just might be good enough to play even with the older kids next year. The funny thing is my grandson never watches sports on TV at all, I mean never! But I find it hard to believe there's no baseball team at his school, either.
