I've heard it said that the definition of a true bluesman is someone who has been on the road so long that any songs that might have been copyrighted in the past would be in the public domain by the time he finally returned home. That's an exaggeration, but B.B. King would probably come closest to fitting that image, as he was still performing for audiences virtually non-stop right up until a couple of weeks ago. Years ago he had promised to never retire as he lived for his music, and he clearly meant it. The inspiration he had on other musicians was huge, and the genres of blues, rock, and R&B all bear the imprint of his singing guitar style. He will be missed, but his musical legacy is universal and timeless. RIP, "Blues Boy" King.
