I wont go as far as far to call it a GREAT album - do to some sequencing issues, and the fact its missing Jump on Top of Me and I'm Gonna Drive - but I will say it's VERY GOOD. I like nearly everything on it. It's the last Stones album that Stones operated as the core band. Obviously there was a lot of jamming and inspiration during these sessions, and Don Was did get close to what he was trying to achieve...
I like the rockers to varying degrees Love is Strong, You Got Me Rockin, I Go Wild, Sparks Will Fly), and I really like the loose numbers (Brand New Car, Suck the Jugular and Mean Disposition. Both Mick ballads are good, but Blinded by Rainbows is excellent. I agree with gomer that Baby Break Down is an absolute classic, and there is something really special about Moon Is Up. Sweet Hearts Together is also very good and has cool vocals, melody, layers of guitars, and a cross-vibe of what made Waiting on a Friend and Indian Girl cool to me. Keith took that same style of riff he came up with for Baby Break it Down and found a way to use it for Thru and Thru; and it works so well that it is not redundant and the sone song is a near classic as well.
