RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Stones still rockin' in 2015

Sway, you really got me thinking on the Ronnie era.....

I agree BJ and MT are key ingrediants to the Stones mix. I hate that MT left and that era is by far my favorite.

Ronnie.... I love the Faces and Ronnie makes them. Their whole attitude and sometimes slovenly ways were very Stones-like. Wish the Faces would've kept going and even reunited before Mac's death. I digress... I think Ronnie may have helped Keith get his act together along with the Toronto bust. To start the Ronnie era we get Some Girls - and I think Ronnie helped make that attitude happen. While he was given some song credit on ER, I think this is when MJ really took the reins back. IMO he did rule from '74-'76 (maybe even earlier due to KR's addictions) and post SG. Ronnie would get credit up until DW. And this era is when I think Ronnie really shined. Ronnie was the bridge between the Glimmers and helped kick start the SW sessions. Now I think MJ and KR would've reconciled regardless because they both know deep down they are better together than apart. Musically I don't think the Ronnie era is as great and that has more to do with the fact that the Glimmers ruled with an iron fist; hell, Ronnie wasn't even made an official member until a few years ago if memory serves me correctly.

Maybe Jagger knew how much he needed and enjoyed working with Taylor. When Taylor left, possibly Jagger realizes that he must go at things alone or with little input from Keith or Ronnie - hence the work on Black and Blue (while I love some songs on it, it's not a consise album). Combine that possible idealogy along with the fact that Keith was looking at going away for a while, Jagger feels he must look internally and not depend on anyone else. Ronnie has shined in concert many times and people have recognized that. Wheras I think Mick Taylor brought soul to his playing, Ronnie has a loose feel to his play - just different styles and I prefer MT's style.

That's just my two cents and maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Curious what others think of that.
