RE: Stones still rockin' in 2015

Its nothing short of amazing that this band, which got its srart in 1962, is still going now?

Yes! But perhaps now, and even long ago, after they hit the 20 year mark or so, most of us got used to them being around for a long time, and by that time expected it. Yet still, and even for today, a rock band that's been around for well over 50 years is something else, even if we do take them for granted! But I can recall when Hot Rocks came out and it had "1964-1971" on the cover, and to me at that time, that said something big to me. I even recall saying something about it to my dad, that this rock band was still together after so many years. 8 years together was unheard of for a rock band back then, and it's still a long time, even for today!

Their creative team is still totally intact.

Now this I disagree with you on, since it isn't true, they haven't been totally intact since the day Brian died (well, 2 weeks before that). Then Mick Taylor joined and fit right in as a major part of that creative team, and then he left after only a few years on board, but made his mark big time. Plus let's don't forget about Bill, he might have been only the bass player who wasn't allow to expand too much within the band, but he still was a part of the team too, and of course, he ain't around and hasn't been for years now.

As great as the Glimmers have been for so long, they still needed the others to help create the magic. They weren't like Lennon and McCartney, who it didn't matter who they had working with them, as them 2 were gonna be great without anybody else's help. Yet the Glimmers never would have made it in the first place, not on the scale that they did, if BJ wasn't there in the very beginning to get it going, and then add all of those special touches to most of their '60s hit records, which made those songs hits in the first place. It was a crime he wasn't ever credited for his music writing, because he was why so many of those songs were big hits (and one of 2 reasons why I put that web page together comparing his work to Keith's; the second and main reason for that page was Keith's rude talk and put downs about the man who help make him who he is today).... Then Mick Taylor came along when Brian died and although the Stones had already made it, he was as much a key ingredient to help to not only keep them strong, but made them even stronger. What would have the great Sticky Fingers had sounded like without Taylor? Or all of the other LPs he was on? More than likely, weaker albums, more like the albums that they put out with Ronnie (in other words, very good, but not as great). Please understand, I'm not trying to make Ronnie look bad here in stating that, he was a key ingredient to why Some Girls was great, but out of all the other LPs he's been on, it would not have mattered too much to the Stones and their music who the other guitarist would have been.

But my point to all of this is, the Glimmers were never the only reason the Stones were great, and they weren't the only ones who were a part of the band's creative team. Take away BJ and MT and forget about most of their major hits! Now I know that about a third of my fellow Stones fans out there would disagree with me on this, and that's fine, but it is the truth if you look deeply into all of this. The Glimmers weren't all there was to the Stones creative team.
