I have captain beyonds first vinyl lp which has a 3 d cover.I never thought they were a great band though.
I never even heard of them. LOL!
I can't imagine that 3D covers were ever anything more than a fad. Judging by the TSMR cover, they are cumbersome and rather blurry. They also must have cost quite a bit more to produce than conventional 2D covers. Was the album more expensive to purchase than other albums?
I think that the 3D Majesties cover was very much of its time: psychedelic music, clothes, light shows, etc. were all the rage. The cover fit in nicely in that context, IMHO.
