I see what you are saying DA and I agree with you to a point. He(MT) has clearly shined on songs that were performed live that are not "his" such as the one's you noted and others that I mentioned in this thread(SFTD,SFM,Ya Ya's) which is why I said that in '69, he catapulted the Stones into the Greatest Rock and Roll Band In The World title.
However, I have also stated that if I am going to see The Stones live (with MT), I would love for them to put some of the war horses to bed (MR,SFTD,SMU,GS) and let MT play on songs like Silver Train, Sway, TWFNO, 100 Years Ago etc.... songs that they rarely if ever play. I know, SFTD is my favorite song of all time, but I don't like the way they have been performing it. They leave out verses and IMO, MT kicked ass on the '69 live version and THATS how I want to hear it!
I'd rather hear MT songs done by MT. IMO, he can take a Brian Era song, like the one's we mentioned, and turn them into gold too! But he's already done that! With that said, IMO, Ronnie can't do MT songs the way MT can. I just wanna hear MT do those great MT songs that the Stones don't do live, even if they have to toss out a few warhorses. Again, JMHO.
