RE: British vs American

All of the albums by the real, pre-crash Skynyrd are great IMO. After that, well, the tribute tour album isn't bad, but pretty much everything that came after sucks. On my Skynyrd board, we refer to the post-crash band as "Gary's (Rossington) band" since he is now the only original member left. Everyone else is a replacement, and most of these replacements are replacing previous replacements. Bassist Leon Wilkeson was honest enough to admit it. He said this in (I think) 1997: "Ronnie was Lynyrd Skynyrd. I don't play in Skynyrd no more. All we are now is a tribute band."

Keno, I knew you were going to mention Alice Cooper. Another great pick. But I'm still looking at the Allmans, the Doors and Skynyrd. Not sure which one would qualify as the "greatest" for me. I suppose that part of it is how you define "greatest". Number of hits? Influence on other bands? Lasting impact? Or (let's face it, it plays a part in our selections) pure personal preference?
