The old band called "Alice Cooper" was my favorite American band, but I don't know if they were the best, but they were #1 on my list regardless. Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers, yes, among the best American bands ever! I liked the Pretenders a lot too, but only one member was American. CSNY was great also, but again, only 2 Americans out of the 4. The Doors were great too, but yes, overrated also, so not on my list, unless the list is long. Sly and the Family Stone were great, I'd put them on the list. The Rascals were another great one to list, as were the 4 Seasons....
