Again, the five "nominees" I put forth were simply bands I immediately thought of as "possible' contenders for the title. Not the only contenders. I only mentioned them because I thought of the question without having my own answer to my question. Any American BAND qualifies. Elvis and Chuck do not qualify. Seperate category as far as I am concerned. Dylan and Hendrix do not qualify either. The question is reserved for Bands. Yet Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, and Bob Seger And the Silver Bullet Band qualify. It was never Elvis and the Gypsies or Chuck Berry And The Berry Pickers. I consider both solo acts, not bands.

So on that basis let's stick to "Bands" only.
