RE: crossfire hurricane

Well Manny I'm really glad you posted about this movie. I bought it when it came out but just watched it all the way through for the very first time. There is a great deal of footage I personally have never seen which was a pleasant surprise. One of the better documentaries on the history of the band. You can feel the eras of the Stones through their eyes, emotions, and often what feels like their very open and honest words. Interestingly the interviews of the band members for the film at the 50 year anniversary point does not include shots of the band members doing the interviews. I like the decision. Though the movie closes with the band performing at the Beacon for the 'Shine A Light', movie.

One note though, while there is considerably more sympathy and empathy for Brian from Keith and Jagger for this film, compared to other documentaries, the two did essentially keep the myth going that Brian was so out of it near the end of his tenure with the band that he could not play or help with the music. (Though Jagger did mention the Brian solo on 'No Expectations'.) I noticed they kept the fact that Brian was the leader of the band in the beginning essentially hidden as well.

Otherwise I thought the film was even handed, open and honest. Jagger, Keith, Bill, Charlie, Mick Taylor, and Ronnie were all interviewed for the film. The films study of the Stones ends shortly after Keith's Toronto drug bust. I believe the last concert footage is from the Concert For The Blind in '77. (Though it is possible that version of 'Miss You' is from the '78 tour.) Then comes the Beacon song and the credits.

Overall the film is a must have for Stones fans and is best enjoyed with added speakers. The film is well done as Manny noted.
