I think Jimi Hendrix is the easy choice. In his short time as a recording artist he had HUGE impact, even to this day. I'd say Jimi for sure.
Jim Morrison? Never a fan of him or the Doors, but that aside, it seems to me that he pretty much already did what he was going to do. I don't know how much longer he could keep that "mysterious poet" thing going. Plus it seems like he was kind of an asshole.
I like Nirvana and thought Cobain really hit the nail on the head for that generation. Not really sure what more new or different he was capable of, but I thought he was great for that time.
Brian Jones? Hard to say. So talented. Which doesn't always translate into "having impact."
