I don't care if someone's technically a "good" musician or not, so long as I get what they're doing and I like it.

Ditto! I'd much rather have a somewhat sloppy band which plays music I like, as opposed to a technically superior band which plays music I find boring.

While a certain skill level is required (Sid Vicious clones need not apply), technical wizardry can get in the way of the "feel" of the music. That is the main reason why the "art rock" bands such as Yes and Genesis mostly make me yawn. It's also the reason why, while I love the Allmans' bluesy stuff (been listening to a lot of that lately), I tune out as soon as the bass or drum solo starts.
