RE: RE: One Plus One plus Voices

One Plus One was the title of the movie everywhere except in the US, where it was titled Sympathy for the Devil instead (as was the VHS title of it, which came out years later). BTW C&W, I just came across what you saw on YouTube, and yes, it's broken up and doesn't show all of scenes that the Stones are in that movie, a bunch is missing, at least in the beginning, as I was just looking for that second movie and came upon what you saw.... in the part where first Mick and Brian are playing with no Keith around, that part is a bit longer than what they show, and then when Keith shows up, that part is cut up and longer too, in fact the best part of where they show Brian playing guitar in the move, is cut out of there, as I recall that because I watched the VHS tape I made, with Gasser Maxmeister and his late wife Debbie, at my home one night about 10 years ago, and there is a part on guitar that Brian plays, while Keith is playing a different riff on his guitar, and I noted to them how that small guitar bit played by Brian ended up in the beginning of the song "Let it Bleed" (just before the drumming starts and Mick starts to sing the song, you hear this short guitar riff, and yes, it's the very same riff heard and played by BJ in the SFTD film), a song that Brian didn't even play on, yet the very same, short acoustic guitar riff that he played, is played by Keith in the LIB song for sure.

DA, there is a good bit of Brian in the early part of the movie, in fact, he is the very first person we see in the movie, playing his guitar with Mick, but towards the ending, not too much of him at all is shown because he wasn't there in the studio - but under arrest and in jail, as he was arrested for the second time while the song/movie was being made, and then he stayed away from the studio for a few days after that trying to get over being arrested for something he was set up for by the police (like the part where they show Bill playing guitar and somebody asks "Is Bill going to play guitar on here", and Mick says something like, "No, he's playing bass", but of course, he didn't play bass or guitar on the final cut of the song, but anyway, there's no BJ around at that point of the movie).

I wrote my closest insider tonight to find out what the name of the other movie was, as I knew he would know the name of it, and sure enough he did... it's called Voices, and made just after One Plus One was made. The movie is by the French director Richard Mordaunt, and is a film he made about Jean-Luc Godard filming One Plus One. It's a very rare film, and you can find just bits and pieces of it if you search deep on the internet, but sadly, I can't find anything on YouTube on it other than one review of it that I found did have a YouTube link to stuff from it, but when you click on the link, the video is no longer available (figures!). Another, different website talked about one scene from Voices that I recall but forgot to mention above, it is a third take of the background singers, and I totally remember seeing this take of the song too, but this time the singers are around the mic, and Jimmy Miller is in front of them, and he is waving his hands and swaying his arms up and down constantly to the song's beat to get the singers to follow his lead while they sing 'woo-who'. I totally recall this part because sometime later my youngest sister recalled seeing this but she couldn't recalled where she saw it or remember what film it was from, so she asked me about it.... Plus as I write this, I also recall talking about Voices with our late friend Gerry, she saw Voices and at first was getting parts of it mixed up with One Plus One, as she kept talking about the parts of One Plus One with Brian that were cut out of that movie and asking why did they do that, so I asked her what parts where that, since nothing shown in One Plus One was cut by Godard once the movie was released, and she then talked about the parts - like where they show everybody fleeing the studio when the joint was burning down, that and Keith playing bass but not singing backups, but none of that was ever in One Plus One, those parts were only in Voices, as she had to have seen both movies and got the 2 mixed up. But at least I now know what the second movie was called and you can bet one day, somebody will again post some footage of it on YouTube, even if it is very rare, but damn, I want to see Voices again!
