RE: RE: RE: I swear right about now...

Well, Pere Ubu is definitely an acquired taste. I'm not a big fan. Some of their stuff is really good but some of it is kind of impenetrable.

I like a lot of Cleveland and Detroit bands. They just seem to have a built in bit of greasiness that I like and they usually are lean where other stuff is fat and fat where other stuff is lean (if that makes any sense). I totally understand people not liking things like The Dead Boys, but I probably picked the wrong clip for DoS. I chose that one because it had the beginning done the way they do it on If memory Serves Us Well, and I like the pretty intro that leads into the really abrasive riffs. The other live version I found had a cool intro, but it wasn't what I wanted. But then the instrumental parts are better live, but weirder on the old studio album. I like both, but I really get it when people don't.

PBU and I really only tend to agree musically on The Stones and early Bob Seger, so I'm not surprised there. Steel wls probably won't like them, either. But it's not like they're alone in liking that bigger sound, lot's of people love it.

I love Black Mountain. I saw them awhile ago and man, they were KILLER! Like a cross between Deep Purple and Black Sabbath with a little jet engine added for good measure. They come from the Vancouver scene, which I like some other bands from, too. I like Blood meridian a lot, but they're like a Black Mountain side project so they're really sporadic. My favorite Vancouver band in the world is Ladyhawk. Not Ladyhawke. I don't like them at all. Drop the "e." Ladyhawk is totally cool, and I think I was beside myself when they came to town and I took a group of six and we made up at least en percent of the audience. I thought they played for forty minutes, and my son said, "No, it was over ninety by my watch."

I love shows like that. Every second was fantastic and it lasted a long time but only seemed like a few minutes. I think they probably played every song they had, but I'd have watched them all night.
