RE: I swear right about now...

See, I'm used to hearing what PBU and Jaded Faded said, and then I'll have one friend say, "I liked that." Which the weird thing to me is that I get into a band like DoS partly because they're from here and I try hard to support local and state bands. I think it's easy because Ohio has a shitload of bands I love and apparently we grow more every year.

The odd thing is that when I band I love comes to town, and I get all excited and buy my tickets real early because I don't want to miss them, because they're playing the small room at the Beachland or they're at the Grog Shop, and then I wait and talk about it all the time with my son until the show comes, and then I find out there's somewhere between 30 and 100 people there. It always seems to blow my mind that everyone doesn't listen to Black Mountain or knows that New Salem Witch Hunters are verifiable Cleveland Rock history. Even The Flamin' Groovies (who are icons of Rock N' Roll twice over in my book), didn't sell out.

Then again, I saw the opening of The Grammy's with AC/DC, and I thought that other than seeing Chris Slade on TV (I loved his drumming on some of Manfred Mann's Earth Band albums), they were fucking horrible. My wife even kind of meekly said, "I don't know...I kind of don't like AC/DC." God, she's a keeper!

Then again, I really don't know many of Taylor Swift's songs, or what Rihanna or Miley Cyrus sound like. I never hear them, and if they're in a commercial or something I can very effectively tune them out. I guess I've always been that way, but it almost always seems to catch me by surprise that so many people aren't interested in the music that's absolutely essential for me.

Then again, that's why there's more than one record in the record store.
