Yeah, like others have said, no way one is enough. I have a shitload of Stones books. You don't need a shitload, but I think the best ones are:
The Rolling Stones - The First 20 Years by David Dalton. Definitely the kind of thing you can look at over and over.
The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones - Stanley Booth
Symphony for the Devil - Philip Norman. Those two I thought were similar, and generally get things right.
It's Only Rock N' Roll - James Karnbach. Stays focused on the music. Really a great reference book.
Bill's book is kind of a brutal read. You'd almost think The Stones made tires the way he goes on about some things. But it's interesting and it's probably very true.
I also like Keith Richards by Barbara Charone.
I know Trynka's book is getting highly rated these days, and I have it but haven't read it yet. So far, of all the Brian Jones books I've ever read, the only one I really liked was Mandy Aftel's Death of a Rolling Stone, which actually doesn't spend as much time on Brian's death. Every half decent book about Brian cites this one, and generally they use Mandy's research.
While I think they're entertaining for the most part, According to the Rolling stones and Keith's book don't seem all that necessary to me. Bill's memorabilia book is really cool, too.
