RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: deflated footballs

I was at that game where he licked that 63 yard field goal, and it would had been good from 67 or 68 yards out. But what manny noted is incorrect, I believe he only had one other 60 yard kick, and that one wasn't even made in Denver!

But yes bluesboy, the air in Denver is much lighter normally than any other NFL city because of the altitude being at 5,200 feet up - and it being very dry there. However, the dry air is only true for early season games, as by mid November it gets cold and snow is around and the air gets wetter. From spring till late fall in Colorado, it's normal to see many days with 5 to 10% humidity readings, whereas anywhere east of here nothing even close to that ever happens, they never see readings lower than 25% or so east of Colorado and even that low is rare. But when you combine less than 10% humidity with a mile high altitude, kicking a football a long way is easy, but you still got to get it between the 2 goal posts. But it's not different balls being used, and it wasn't just Elam but anybody who kicks there, including Matt Prater who replaced Elam and who kicked them even further and more often than Elam did. But can you imagine being Elam, kicking a ball 63 yards and it's not even the record for your team? Well it was the day he kicked it, but it ins't anymore since Prater beat that with a 64 yarder... But keep in mind this happens in baseball in Denver too. Coors Field had the most home runs hit every year in baseball up until they started using those stupid wet balls, once they did that, home runs fell off to where it's just like any other ballpark. Stupid that they did that, they should bring back the normal dry ball. Watching baseball games in Denver used to be fun to see before they ruined that, and hell, the Rockies' pitchers still stink anyway, so I say bring back the excitement and the homeruns, the hell using those special wet balls, making baseball boring and slow again isn't the answer, those high scoring games were very fun to watch.
