RE: Vocal Performances-Re post, I screwed up

Where does Mick Jagger really nail it?

That's a touch question.

To me (and this is only my opinion) Jagger is not like other Rock n' Roll singers. He lacks a physical prowess with his voice. He is not like Meat Loaf, Sammy Hagger, Celine Dion, or the guy from Journey. He's not even like Robert Plant. That said, I think Jagger is actually one of the greatest Rock n' Roll singers of all time. Hi voice is more recognizable than any of the aforementioned singers. With Jagger, it's what he does with his voice. I don't see too many 'stand out' performances. It's an overall thing with Jagger: s style, nuances, interpretation. But I do notice that in the late 80s and early 90s he often sounded really great. HIs voice kind of deepened, and he seemed to have a lot of control.

But again, Jagger is instantly recognizable to all of us. Just one bar, one line from him connects you with a whole part of our culture. In this way, he's kind of like Bob Dylan, Elvis, or Sinatra. He could sing the phone book and you'd know it was him, and it resonates and means something.
