Yes. Unfortunately I think that is true. They carried the torch when they should have been one of five or more bands to publicly do so. I don't blame them. It is not Guns And Roses fault they could not successfully carry an entire genre of music to great heights. They should have had plenty of company...plenty of help. That Was not the case.

I agree completely with JF's assessment on U2's career btw. He nailed it. Achtung Baby is the last album they had something savory to offer. Since then there have been decent songs sometimes and nothing more. These days they do not offend but they do not thrill either.
