First one that comes to mind for me is Led Zeppelin. Boring and bloated is what I come away with every time. I like a lot of bands influenced by them, though.
I can't get too excited about The Beatles. They're okay, I like a few of their albums but they have too many jokey, novelty songs like Bungalow Bill, Octopus' Garden, Yellow Submarine - I could go on and on. The Blue album, Revolver and one of these days a copy of the Red album and I'll be more than set for life with them. Besides a few Paul McCartney albums, I'm even less interested in their solo careers. I like Wah Wah. I like the songs Goodnight Vienna and It Don't Come Easy. Lennon's solo stuff bores me to tears.
I hate U2. Everything sounds the same to me. Metallica absolutely crushed it their first three albums, but then sold out big time and have sucked ever since. Whiskey in the Jar is better by Thin Lizzy.
I hate Styx and Boston. I doubly hate The Eagles.
AC/DC? They were okay with Bon Scott. Without they're even duller than Van Halen. Van Halen manged to get even more dull by adding Sammy Hagar. Yuck.
I go back to bands I haven't liked now and then and try again. I've come to appreciate Lynyrd Skynyrd quite a bit. Early Aerosmith is better than I remember, but their "comeback" stuff? Ppppphhhhtttt.....
