I'm already totally chill, man, and I never said this was a big [f*-ing] deal. I also never said that what you do with your own board is wrong; indeed right and wrong are somewhat irrelevant here. I hope you know that I very much understand having a policy concerning nasty word-wars. It makes sense, but perhaps it also makes sense to have a notification system, like so many other websites do, to simply show "this comment was removed due to a website policy violation" or something like that. Yes, that can be annoying to read over and over but this generally mellow place would almost never get clogged up (with that) to a super high degree, I wouldn't think.
Also, many sites will make a note--with an asterisk or something--when an article or post has been edited after the fact. We, as gassers, all do this when we make a second post correcting a mistake in a previous post. I believe that it matters that other gassers see this, so as to preserve as much meaning and understanding between us all as possible.
Also, I'm not sure what others think, but I've always felt by participating here we are doing just as much for you as you are doing for us, considering the risks we take in putting ourselves online with no control over what could ever maybe happen with our words. In fact, maybe that is an option? What if you gave us the ability to correct, or at the very least, delete inaccurate or idiotic things we are embarrassed to have written, like users on Twitter or other social media have? (I don't know, however, if that would complicate things too much). Anyway, that said, I do think it is absolutely up to you how exactly you want to deal with your own board, I just think transparency (which you have shown when asked) is a good thing, as is thoughtful consideration by us users. Despite the risks, (or non-risks in gasland's case; you clearly don't have any nefarious intentions) I will probably be continuing to put myself out here from time.
