Who do we root for?

The two #1 Seeds go at it in the Super Bowl. It promises to be a very competitive game, and a good physical game to watch. Last I looked Las Vegas has it a pick 'em game. My problem is I am not enthused about rooting for either team. And I'm going back and forth on who to root for. (Any game is more fun to watch if you have a team to root for. Particularly if it's the Super Bowl) Here is what is going through my mind concerning which team to root for:

Seattle has Russell Wilson at QB. He grew up in Richmond in my home state. He's likable.

Seattle has Kam Chancellor at Safety, he grew up in my home state and played for Virginia Tech. Both these guys are stars on the team.

*But Seattle takes the "Swagger" thing too far.

*But I have a tough time rooting for a team which just beat my Packers.

*I hate seeing any team win the Super Bowl in consecutive years unless it's my Packers.

But I am basically an NFC guy. So my mind is squirming here.

The case for the Patriots:

Tom Brady has handled himself with Class his entire career.

Many hate him but why? Because he is incredibly good, stylish and married to a Super model. When "your team" plays against him HE will likely be the reason "Your Team" loses, thus, He, is the reason you will likely be in a bad mood after the game.

9 AFC Championship games the guy has played in. And he got some very average teams to those games and he won 3 Super Bowls out of the 5 Super Bowls he has played in. Now he will play in his 6th Super Bowl. He deserves an amazing amount of credit for that.

Everyone seems to think Joe Montana is hands down the best QB to ever play the game. I like Joe Montana but the guy played on super talented teams in an era when an owner could BUY a great team. And the Niners did just that year after year, surrounding Montana with a talented offensive line, talented WRs like the great Jerry Rice, and a talented Defense with players like Ronnie Lott. There is a part of me which would like to see Tom Brady win a 4th Super Bowl just so all the Joe Montana is the best ever hands down talk will have a new argument. I'm not a Patriots fan but I respect them and I particularly respect Brady and I think he has proven to be a better QB in his career than Montana. Because he has practically willed average talent around him to be winning teams and for Joe Montana he could play average or even below average and those Niners teams were so talented they could still win.

Name a great Wide Receiver Brady got to throw to? He gets it done with no name wide receivers. The one year he had a fine Wide Receiver it was Randy Moss. And all they did together was set records and went undefeated for 18 games. Losing the Super Bowl in a close game against the Giants after a freak catch. I dare say Brady and several other QBs such as Dan Marino, Roger Staubach, and Brett Favre would have won as many games or more than Joe Montana if they had been the QB of those extremely talented Niners teams.

I would take Brady over Joe Montana as my QB.

So if Brady and the Pats win this Super Bowl I will have more ammunition for that argument.

Plus it would shut up the trash talking portion of the Seahawks.

So I have a tough decision to make on which team to root for on February 1st. But mainly I hope it is a nail biter.
