When I first got into the Stones around age 10, it was Hot Rocks that did it for me. Not just the music, but the cover. Those cool pictures at that castle and also the pictures inside. Very cool and I thought very scary indeed. Some Girls was the first record that I went out and bought that was released when I was actually cognizant of the Stones. Got in line at the National Record Mart (remember those?)before it opened the day it was released. No one in front of me and eventually 3 guys showed up behind me before they opened the doors.
So by the time I was 22, I was knee deep into the greatness of Exile. And I remember really getting into Beggars Banquet at the time. And that was right around the time they went back on the road with Steel Wheels, so it was a great time to be a fan. I was resigned to the fact that I might never get to see them, so when the hoopla around the reunion in '89 happened, I was over the top excited.
