Performance, Brian Jones, and performance

I'm gearing up to watch Performance for the first time so I thought I'd offer and ask for comments. I don't know how I've somehow avoided this little Stones side-trip for so long but I guess the timing isn't too bad since I'm on a Brian kick. I understand the Turner character is kind of reflective of Brian, no? Well, even if not I guess I'll share more thoughts post-viewing; anyone have any tips to keep in mind while watching? It seems to me that the Stones really embody this idea of "performance," of showing one side and being another, of the blurring of myth and reality, of vice and versa, of being many things and none at all. With Brian, it appears they've been 'performing' him out of his true place in history ever since he died. Then, again, I've been watching tons of Brian footage lately to supplement my reading and while he really does dominantly jump out at you in show and in interviews circa '65 while the others look downright awkward, he then becomes completely and pathetically out of it as the footage progresses through the years, perhaps earning himself the place in history that he deserves(?). Maybe there is, or never was, a performance as such going on, simply life, memories, and perceptions playing out in their inherently flawed ways.

Of course, I won't let any of those thoughts distract me from the legendary Keith/Anita/Mick triangle regarding the "performances" of some of the scenes in the movie I've read about
