RE: RE: RE: Stones Vs. AC/DC vs U2

I agree w/ Sawy's comment, that there are the Stones and the Beatles and then there is everyone else.

Don't get me wrong about AC/DC -- I do like them intensely, and I can really rock out to them. They're great when you're sucking back the whisky on the rocks. But they are just missing the depth that make them a 'soundtrack of your life' kinda band.

U2...for me they'll always be a band whose "best of" collection I am happy to enjoy and hear once in a while. But beyond that, I don't have a lot of interest in them.

The figures of these big old bands do mean something to me. Of course, they have little nothing to do with any discussion about these band's artistry. But they are interesting when you look at how real Rock n' Roll never seems to appear on the top charts in places like Billboard magazine anymore. If it does happen, it seems rare. But then you look at the massive amount of money in ticket sales of the Stones, AC/DC, and other old bands. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense at first. But then you realize that the markets they appeal to are far more broad. There are millions who would never buy a CD by Rianna, Pharrel, Eminem, or any of these other people, but tehy'll happily shell out for the Stones
