personal dynamics between Brian, Keith and Mick

I look forward to getting the book, although from what I'm reading opinion is dived as to whether or not it adds much more of substance to the story than is already known. There does seem to be a consensus though that it is well researched, and most seem to agree it is a balanced account.

I will be interested to read Trynka's take on Jaggers' 'brutal' treatment of Jones. I know that Jones' first choice for singer for the band he was putting together was not Jagger, and I have read that when it was suggested later that Jagger be dropped from the band, Jones was open to the idea. I presume if Jagger was aware of this it wouldn't have particularly endeared him to Jones. Of course there are the stories of Jones cutting himself better deals than the rest, and also at times as we know, Jones was not the nicest person to be around or deal with. Could be that Jagger just did not like the 'self pitying, narcissistic' Jones, and by the time his drug intake had rendered him 'increasingly useless, and boorish', the calculating Jagger had realised that this guy needed to be dropped.

Why Jagger behaved in a different way to Richards might have something to do with the fact that his association and friendship with Richards predated Jones, they were hometown boys. That might be it, he liked Richards. It might be that the calculating Jagger just as he had realised correctly that Jones was not vital and needed to be dropped, realised the opposite was true of his song writing partner if the Stones were going to survive and go on. Hence the difference in attitude.

I don't know of course, because just like everyone else, you read what you read, you weigh things up, you come to a conclusion based on a balance of probabilities.
