It is a strange time in the NFL. By my estimation there are 13 good to great QBs in the league. All the rest scare the hell out of their fans when they drop back to pass. 13 QBs and 32 teams in the league!
Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Brady, Brees, Luck, Rothlisberger, Matt Ryan, Mathew Stafford, Wilson, Flacco, Rivers, Romo, and Eli.
Dalton and Newton are honorable mention but they can hurt their own team in a hurry with turnovers. The kid in Oakland, Derek Carr, shows real promise. Nick Foles manages the Eagles Offense fairly well. So 15 teams are looking for an answer at QB. Because if you don't have one in the top half your team has no true shot at a Super Bowl appearance. The new rules in the league favor passing offenses.
In cold weather cities with wind, you need a QB with a cannon for an arm. Johnny Football brought excitement to Cleveland but not the arm strength or dedication needed and Orton brought brains to Buffalo but not the arm strength. EJ Manuel is a nice kid to be the face of your franchise but he is not the answer On the field. Both teams need to look elsewhere for a QB imo. But where?! Mike Vick? Jay Cutler? Jameis Winston? All have the arm strength but are lacking in other key areas.
I like the Browns head coach. He's no nonsense. Makes you "earn" your starting position. Why did the Bills coach opt out Manny? Was the new ownership going to replace him anyway? With that defense in Buffalo Cutler or Vick could actually get the Bills in the playoffs. Doubt they would go deep in the playoffs but man you need a big arm to stretch the opposing defense so you can open lanes for the run and pass.
