Why is it that I think Free is great and Bad Co. sucks eggs? Must be Paul Kossoff. That was one sloppy assed live band, though!
I've been listening to mostly stuff I've already had because The Wonderchick gets mad if I buy myself music in December (and usually up until next week because of my birthday). She says then there's nothing for people to buy me. So I've been reading a book about a band from Zion, IL called Shoes and listening to their first five or so albums (that's all I have). It's interesting to see what was happening with them. Elektra fully expected them to be at least as big as The Cars were at the end of the 70's, beginning of the 80's. Their music is good enough, but there's a million reasons why it never happened.
Been listening to Lucinda Williams' Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone. It's nice to see I'm not the only one. It's a three record set, and weighs about nine pounds! It's a really great album, the kind of thing you know you'll still love in twenty years.
My fascination with Wussy continues unabated. Every day a different album of theirs is my favorite. 2014's Attica! is a real killer, and Halloween is as much of a song of the year for me as Lydia Loveless' Head (her Somewhere Else album has gotten a lot of play all year).
Stones-wise I've listened to most of GRRR! If you can find a cheap one, it's really quite nice. Certainly not necessary, but it's pretty good.
