DA, I always enjoy your reply to my poll posts, you come up with some great questions.... you wrote this time:
I own a number of classical music albums but most of them are stored on my computer and not in actual CD or vinyl format. Do they still count?
Yes, count them!!
I also own a number of blues albums but I'm not sure which ones qualify as "pure blues". Robert Johnson? Bessie Smith? Old Delta blues?
Yes, they count in my book anyway! Robert Johnson may be the godfather of rock, but he didn't play rock music since there wasn't any in his time - rock came from his recordings, and among others. Bessie Smith was both blues and jazz, but like RJ, she died way too young and way before there was any rock music around.
I'm guessing that Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf don't.
They would both count too! Somebody like Johnny Winter would not count since he did play rock blues, nor would a band like the Allman Bros count, as they also were blues-rock.
