RE: fixing a hole...a great one.....ssc

I love, LOVE, LOVE "Fixing a Hole"! It's one of my top 5 Macca songs for sure and it's one of the "Sgt Pepper's" highlights for me.

Obscure songs... they are one of the perks of diving deep into a band's catalogue. I have a friend who loves discovering bands he doesn't know. He listens to them for a bit, then moves on to the next one. So he only ever scrapes the surface. I'm the opposite. I like to dive as deep as I possibly can into the catalogue of a band I love, reaching for the obscure and the unheard.

So on that note, one obscure song which I find worth discovering, from each of my four favourite bands:

1. Beatles: "Hey Bulldog". Why was this gem buried on the mediocre "Yellow Submarine" album?

2. Doors: "Shaman's Blues". From their least successful album. Even though he didn't write it, Robbie Krieger owns this song with his magnificent guitar work.

3. Lynyrd Skynyrd: "Searchin'". Allen Collins and Gary Rossington trading guitar licks at the end is worth the price of admission alone. Pick up the live version on the "One More From the Road" album: it absolutely smokes.

4. Rolling Stones. My gosh, there are so many to pick from! This was my hardest pick of all. In the end, I decided upon "Blue Turns to Grey" from the "December's Children" album. And it now occurs to me that each of my four obscure picks is from a lesser-known album. Do highly successful albums have deep-deep cuts, Ronnie?
