I bought that single "How do you do?" by Mouth and Mcneal. Terrific song!
It just so happens that the Loving Spoonful to me have one of those great but obscure songs "Six O'Clock". Great lead vocals by John Sebastion.
Also, the Turtles' "You Know What I Mean". Nice job there, especially the vocals.
Both singles above just missing the Top Ten.
How about this terrific rocker by Tommy James & the Shondells "Say I Am" from 1966. It was their 2nd hit, came out after the #1 "Hanky Panky" and would peak at #21.
"Fixing A Whole" and "Five O'Clock World" are two songs I always use in my own comps! I love this thread Ronnie!
