Stones, Fabs, Rock, and nonrock questions!...

Xmas week is here and it’s also time for week 802 of our Stones poll, this week’s question will ask this: It's week 802 of our Stones poll, for how long have you been voting in this weekly poll? If you’ve been voting for a long time in our polls, you know that I like to ask personal questions like this one in weeks where we have major holidays occurring with less voters showing up to vote. This question I have asked in the past when we hit a milestone at the Stones poll, and although we hit the 800 week mile(rolling)stone 2 weeks ago, we’re ask it this week. 802 weeks come out to 15.4 years!

Now only you can know for how long you've been voting here, so just how long has that been? To let us know, just click on here: Stones Weekly Poll, to cast your vote! BTW, I’ve been voting since the very first question was asked here back in 1999, like that should surprise anybody!

vs

In last week’s Stones poll we asked: The It's Only Rock n Roll album cover vs the Beggars Banquet (graffiti) album cover, which cover do you like more? Because of space limits in the poll’s admin, I could not ask this question in the way I wanted to, and not until a few days after it was running, did I notice that it wasn’t worded correctly at all. If you recall the poll post last week, I noted we were comparing the 2 cool drawings, not so much the overall covers (we do that when we rate them!), yet I worded it to only ask for what cover everybody liked better instead of what drawing. The way the question was asked, why shit, I dig the BB album cover better, but no way does it have a better drawing, IMO! So what I meant to ask was never asked, and I never noticed it (I’ll go with the excuse that I was getting ready for my Monday surgery when I came up with the incorrect question, since it’s true and I wasn’t thinking straight).

So the final results doesn’t really mean anything to me since it wasn’t what I wanted to ask, but if you would still like to see the final results, just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 801 .

Now to the Classic Rock Poll, where it’s week 444, and we’ll be running the usual 2 poll questions for the week. With the first question we will, just like at the Stones poll, ask a personal question: How many non-Rock albums do you own? Yep, it’s time to take a break and start counting your CDs and anything else that you have your albums in!

Now by non-rock, I mean just that. If you got country rock, or blues-rock LPs, those don’t count! The album has to be non-rock, period. Rap and soul albums are rock based, so they don’t count either. But if you got a pure Blues LP, or pure Country LP, or maybe some Beethoven, etc., all stuff like that counts! So after you’re done counting, to vote, just click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

At the VS Rock poll this week we will ask a Xmas VS question: 'Run Rudolph Run' (by Chuck Berry) vs 'Run Rudolph Run' (by Keith Richards), which cover of this Xmas song is best? I planned this question last week and put it together Saturday morning after I checked to make sure that we didn’t ever ask this before in the past, and it wasn’t listed, so I put the poll together. But after I did that, the question still seemed to me that I asked it before, so I checked again, but again, it wasn’t listed in the VS poll, ever. But it turns out it was asked 2 years ago - in the Stones poll! So I was gonna come up with a new question, and as you can guess, time got ahead of me and I never got it done. But, since this wasn’t ever asked in the VS poll before, nor is it listed on the VS list page, we’ll run it again and see if Keith comes out on top again, like last time. Since this VS poll does have a lot more non-Stones fans voting in it, perhaps not, but time will tell.

As usual, there are YouTube videos for each song in the voting booth so you can hear the songs before you vote; just remember, we aren’t voting on the videos, just the songs only!

So which of these 2 cover songs do you like better? Note, Chuck Berry DID NOT write this song, he tried to steal the writing credit for this song when he first released it in 1958 (something bad the Glimmers learned from him) and claimed credit until he was forced to correctly note that the song was written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie on future pressings. The song went to #69 on ths chart (a great number for a Xmas song!), and #36 in the UK. Keith’s (first) solo single was released in 1978 but it did not chart.

To cast your vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: What was the best vocal sample heard in a Rock song? Well I got a kick out of this poll, did you? The top 3 picks ended up being: Mary Clayton on Stones' 'Gimmie Shelter': 'Rape, murder! It's just a shot away....' (11.5%); John Entwistle on The Who's 'Summertime Blues': 'I'd like to help you son but you're too young to vote' (10.2%), and Peter Townshend on The Who's 'Baba O'Riley': 'Don't cry, don't raise your eye, it’s only teenage wasteland' (9.9%). Good picks!... To view the full, final results from this poll, just click on: Classic Rock Poll week 443. The top 10 from this poll will also be listed at the new: Top Ten Lists Page 11.

In last week’s VS poll we asked: The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band LP vs. The Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request LP, which album is better? To view the results, click on: Classic Rock VS Poll week 443. You can also check out the final results at the new VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

As usual, we end this post with the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 197, and the question is also a personal one: How many Beatles posters/pictures/stickers, etc. do you have up on the walls or shelves of your home? I love the Fabs, but I got more Stones stuff hanging on my walls than Beatles stuff… is that the same deal with you? To let us know, just click on: Beatles Weekly Poll to vote.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: Of the Beatles songs to feature George on lead guitar, which one did he play best on? (Part 3 of 3) The song I voted for came in first, that being “Here Comes the Sun”, with 17.5% of the vote. “Something” placed at 11.2%. then there was a 4 way tie for third, so to see the full results from this poll, click on: Beatle’s Weekly Poll – week 196.

I thank all of you who took the time to vote in both last week and this week's polls! I realize with it being Xmas week, these aren’t the most exciting of questions, but still, fun questions to ask and get answers to, it tells us something about ourselves, for sure!
