A Happy Winter Solstice to all! (NSC)

I'm a bit late here, as the Winter Solstice took place several hours ago, but I always like to wish everybody a Happy Winter Solstice anyway; it was the original December holiday and where the idea for where our first Xmas trees came from.

We got the holiday lights and trees up in the house today and had a real nice dinner for the solstice (only 2 of us), but like most families we will wait to exchange gifts until Xmas morning. My grandson has this new girlfriend from school who lives 45 minutes away from here, and she will be out of state for the holiday, so he talked us into his spending all day today at her house and her mother promised to have him back home by 6pm. But snow hit tonight and her mother called us and claimed there were whiteouts on the road and would it be okay for Coop to spend the nite, something we had already said no to, as they are only 13 and 14. But her mom promised that Cooper will sleep in the living room and we didn't want him on a snowy road with somebody we hardly know driving, so no grandson to share the solstice, and as his mom noted to me tonight, this means one less nite of us having to listen to him trying to beg us to open up one present early. He does that every year we put up the tree and every year we make him wait. The Winter Solstice is for enjoying a good meal and being with family, but not for exchanging holiday presents. We might be atheists, but we wait until Xmas morning anyway, that's the way it's always been here, even when his mom was little.

Anyway, the new poll post is gonna be late tonight as I haven't even started it yet, and I got to get the new polls set first (like now).... I do hope all of you had a nice Winter Solstice, and remember, the days are now growing longer!
