I have never heard them come close to reproducing the 45

Don't forget that the live recordings we have from the 60s were done on primitive (by today's standards) equipment, in concert halls packed with screaming teenagers. So what we hear is not the optimal sound.

I have a live recording of "Satisfaction" on which Brian starts playing harp towards the end. I'm not sure where that was recorded, there are no liner notes to my copy of the bootleg.
