I don't think you are even listening to yourself here Sway. You say in regard to torture, and I'll quote you: "IT IS WRONG" and "I don't dispute that it is a horrible practice", and you claim you're against it. Then you turn around and say it's okay to use just for the Taliban, Al Qaeda or ISIS. You can't have it both ways, either you're for it, or you're against it.
Looks like you are against it only if this involves people in the military, but not against it if it involves religious people and their practices. Let's face it, the only reason why the people in the groups you noted hate us, is because their holy book tells them to hate us and it directly tells them to kill us. Anybody, including the former US dictator Bush who lied and claim that the Muslim faith and it's holy book the Koran (or if you prefer, the Quran) doesn't demand this, either haven't read this holy book (I have), or they are flat out lying, or they are just plain stupid people (Bush falls under all 3 of course).
I was told by one person here several years back, that not all versions of the Koran have these passages in this book. I haven't bothered to see if this is true or not, since I already know for a fact that at least one version does have it, and I've been told most versions which most Muslims read do contain these demands, and that's enough for me to know. Even if only one version has this hate in it, that's one version too many. These hateful passages all need to be removed (and this garbage is noted in this book several times, to go to war and to kill all Jews, Christians and Atheists). As long as that demand and hate is in their holy book, the followers of that book will do as they are told to do. With all of that said, I also believe our involvement over there in the Middle East is the other reason for 9-11, if we would mind our own business and say "fuck you" to the oil pigs who are the only reason we are there in the first place, then they would leave us alone - even if only for now, but in time they must follow the orders of their book, and in time, be it today or 20 to 100 years from now, they will go after us anyway because their holy book demands it.
Now, this thread is about torture, and not why we should fear the religion of Islam, so let me get back to that. Just because others act like animals and not like human beings, doesn't mean we have to act in the same matter, and if you are against torture, then there is no exceptions for it, period. It also doesn't matter if you knew people killed on 9-11; if you live or used to live in the tri state area of NY/NJ/Conn, then you knew somebody killed or impacted by what these Muslims did to our country on that day. No, not all Muslims follow their holy book word for word, but many do, and I believe what would work to make our world much safer, is if we worked with those Muslims who disagree with their book, and have them work on removing all of those hateful and deadly words from their Koran forever, so their next generation never learns of such sick messages and demands that this book calls for. But we should not stoop to their sick methods under any circumstances and torture too, just becuse they are told to do it!
Now, you can't just stop the religion from spreading and have it totally eradicated from the planet as you suggest, it will never happen. It's not only the biggest religion out there, but it growing faster than any other religion. Almost all wars have been started over religions, so don't get me wrong, the planet would be better off if all religions didn't exist. But that's not gonna ever happen, so we got to do what is next best, work to eliminate what the cause the problem is while letting all religions exist. But the bottom line is, we don't have to become animals and be like those who do torture.
