RE: Your favourite solo works of the Stones?

Overall I'm not a huge fan of the solo Stones. Just like the Beatles (and, I suspect, many other great bands as well), the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. And in the Stones' case, much greater.

I like Mick's "Wandering Spirit" and played it a lot when it came out but I haven't listened to it in a very long time. I also like Bill's Rhythm Kings for an occasional listen. Some of Ronnie's solo work (such as "I've Got My Own Album To Do") is also nice. But let's face it, there is absolutely nothing in the Stones' solo discography that comes even close to the band's best work. The "magic" that is the Stones is lacking.

Ultimately, my favourite Stones solo work is the one you never hear: Brian's soundtrack to the "unforgettable" film "A Degree of Murder". That turkey of a film proved two things: 1) Anita can't act her way out of a paperbag and, 2) Brian was perfectly capable of writing music.

It's a shame that this soundtrack was never made available and that the only way to hear it is to watch that painful movie!
