RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Got cold quick! NSC

The Bills are playing the Jets this Sunday, so more than likely they will be the ones giving the clobbering, and any Bill's fan would love to see that. I'd get my shovel and head over there, since they are also paying everybody hourly for the work, too!

SV, I'd make sure there's no whitouts before you drive anywhere, they can be deadly if you're stuck in them and if you got a blizzard hitting they could last for hours! But yes, the ones that came in from snow squalls usually last only a few minutes at a time. I recall back in the early '80s while living in Telluride, we were having these squalls with total whiteouts hitting every half hour and lasting 5 to 7 minutes per squall. My youngest daughter was a baby and we had no more milk or bread in the house and the wife couldn't breastfeed anymore. The only store in town was about a 40 minute walk round trip, and our car was totally buried under the snow, couldn't even see it, so I timed the squalls and figured I'd try to get to ther store and back jogging in between squalls. So right after the last one hit, me and our big white shepherd dog Micky (named after you know who), headed out to the store. But there was so much snow on the ground I couldn't jog for long, got to the store, and then headed home and made it about half way when I could see from the eastern end of town the next squall was coming in right on time. I tried running again but was exhausted and this next squall hit about 2 minutes later a few blocks from home, and me and Mick had no choice but to stand tall in the street and wait it out. I could not even see my hand infront of me while it was hitting and after about 5 minutes it passed and we got home okay.... Whiteouts are great to watch - as long as you are inside, but you don't ever want to be caught outside in them!
