This week's Stones cover is another WTF cover. I gave it a 5. Nice poster for a shoe store though...
"Paint It Black" in the first rock poll. How could I not? Those first few notes are played by Keith, not Brian (as many people think.) Brian's sitar comes in shortly after.
No vote in the second poll. Not a fan of G&R and not a fan of Ozzie either. Had the Stones version been one of three choices, it would have been a slaughter.
It wasn't easy voting in the Beatles poll. I ended up going with "For You Blue" in part because I think that John does a great job (the song totally wouldn't be the same without his slide guitar) but also for sentimental reasons. As young teens, my girfriends and I used to catch the "Let It Be" movie whenever it played at one of the repertoire theatres in town. The first time I saw it, I didn't even know what John was doing. Seeing him play "For You Blues" was my introduction to slide guitar.
