You may very well be correct Keno, it is typical of Jagger that there is a certain vagueness in his lyric when he tackles 'serious' subjects.
What I was thinking was, that given the grammatical use of the first person singular throughout e.g. 'please allow me....myself', 'I'm a man', 'I was around', 'I rode a tank' so on and so forth, that we were definitely talking about two separate entities, the person telling the story i.e. the devil, and those to whom it was being told. When you get to the Kennedy verse, the crucial verse from our point of view, then that separation appears to maintain 'after all it was you and me'.
If what Jagger was trying to convey was that both entities were in fact one and the same, then to remain grammatically within the structure that verse should have to read;
'I shouted out who killed (the) Kennedy(s),
when after all it was us,
because I am you, and you are me', or something along those lines, using the first person plural 'us'.
I've always considered it was the devil who was the narrator in the song, but you seem to be saying that at this point Jagger interjects himself into the song and he becomes the 'me'. That seems unlikely as I hear it, but entirely possible, given that I have no idea deep down what was going through his head, and his noted ambiguity.
I'm looking at what I've just typed, and maybe it should be the singular first person 'we' instead of 'us' in the changed verse, I'm not sure, but I hope you get my drift( I can almost hear my old English teacher Miss Churcher giving it 'have you taken in anything I've said over the last three years, dunnderheid that you are?).
Btw talking about religion it's the 5th today. 'Remember remember the 5th of November gunpowder treason and plot'. Time to get out there and stick a catholic on top of the bonfire lol.
