I agree with your interpretation, mainly because its the only interpretation that makes the lyrics whole... its like the movie Devils Advocate, where the devil tells his 'son', that he has free will... and proves that the wrongs thing he did, he chose freely to do them......

However, my main curiosity stems from your assertion that Mick is a believer..... I was fairly comfortable believing that he wasn't from his lyrics e.g. 'sacred bleeding heart of Jesus, located somewhere in Los Angeles"... maybe the biggest doubt I had was with Must Be Hell, where he ends with 'we're heaven bound'... but then again, I think he uses it ironically.

But why do you think hes a believer?
