Ya,Ya's cover/Song's opening/Undead/Fabs

For week 794 of our Stones poll we will return to the series of questions where we rate the artwork for each Stones albums, with 12 albums left to go. This week we ask:Rate the artwork for the front cover of Get Ya Ya's Ya Out!. Get Ya Ya's Ya Out! was the second live album put out by The Stones and released in 1970. The songs on here were taken from shows performed both in New York City and in Maryland in November of 1969. But the only thing that matters for this poll is the cover of the album. It’s one of those rare covers that only shows one of the Stones on it, and this time it’s Charlie of all people (or should I say “of all Stones”).

So how much do you like this cover? To vote in this week’s Stones’ poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

vs.

In last week’s Stones poll we asked: Black N Blue vs 12x5 , which album do you like the best? Well the black and blue series of questions saw landslide finishers in all of the six weeks we ran it, regardless what side of the coin Black N Blue was on. Last week, and for the fifth time it again got the short end of the stick, to see by how much, just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 793– poll results. I’ll also add the results of this poll to the Stones VS Page.

Now over to week 436 of the Classic Rock Poll, and we will be running the usual 2 poll questions for the week. The first question asks: What rock song has the best opening to it? (Part 3 of 6) We’re in the middle of asking this one and so far some real good picks have been made. Another 34 songs go up against each other this week and there are some dandy beginnings to consider.

So which one will you go with in Part 3? To see this week’s list and vote, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For the VS Rock poll, this week we will run a question in regard to Halloween, which is this Friday. So the question is: 'Werewolves Of London' (original by Warren Zevon) vs 'Thriller'(cover by Michael Jackson), which song about the undead is best?

Back in 2010 we ran a question at the Rock poll in regard to which song was the favorite song for Halloween, and 'Werewolves Of London' was the top pick, while 'Thriller' tied for second place with Elton John’s “Funeral For A Friend”. Since 'Thriller' is pretty much about the same thing as Zevon’s song, let pit these 2 together.

'Werewolves Of London' was a 1978 song written by Zevon along with the X-pensive Winos guitarist Waddy Wachtel, who also plays guitar on the song. Winding out the band for this number was Zevon on piano (and vocals) and Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie on bass and Mick Fleetwood on drums. Jackson Browne produced this well put together song about a werewolf running amok in London town.

“Thriller” was a 1983 cover song by the other MJ, written by Rod Temperton and at first titled “Starlight”, until Jackson got his hands on it. It turned out to be one of MJ’s best known songs, and for sure, his best known video. The song is about both werewolves and zombies and Jackson plays both in the video…. Although I always leave Youtube links to each song in our VS poll, this week I purposely didn’t link the official “Thriller” video, since it isn’t the version of the song we’re voting on, we are looking at the version from the album which is much shorter and therefore I linked to a video for that, along with a link for 'Werewolves Of London', too, just remember, we are only voting for the song itself only, not the videos.

So which song about the undead do you dig more? To cast your vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: What rock song has the best opening to it? (Part 2 of 6) One of our fellow Stones fans tried spamming this poll last week for the 2 Stones songs listed and I didn’t noticed this until Friday night, so I had to go back and removed all of the spam votes and then ban the moron who was spamming. So if you noticed a big lead by those 2 songs and then saw that lead totally disappear over the weekend, that’s what happened after I adjusted the totals to what they actually were. The 2 songs were going to make the final top 5 songs anyway, just not as the top 2 picks. But the final results are now 100% correct, so here are the top 5: Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple (17%); I Feel Fine - The Beatles (15.7%); Honky Tonk Women - The Rolling Stones (14%); Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones (13.4%); Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who (12.6%).

To view the full, final results from this poll, just click on: Classic Rock Poll week 435.

In last week’s VS poll we asked this question : 'You Really Got A Hold On Me' (original by The Miracles) vs ' You Really Got A Hold On Me' (cover by The Beatles) , which version is best? The last week of Fab VS cover questions saw the Fabs go up against this Motown original. The final results were close, to find out which song finished on top, click on: Classic Rock VS Poll week 436. You can also check out the final results at the brand new VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We end as usual with the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 189, and week 4 of asking for the least liked song per Beatle LP; so this week’s question is: What is your least favorite song on the Beatles LP Beatles For Sale .

The Beatles fourth UK album, it was released in the UK on December 4, 1964 and contained 14 songs on it. The album hit the UK number one spot and remained there for 11 straight weeks! So yes, a well-loved LP and I know it’s not gonna be easy picking your least favorite Beatle song on this one. But after looking at last week’s voter count it appears more are finally understanding the question and taking part in the voting. So let’s keep that up with this week’s LP.

To take part in this week’s Beatles poll, just click on: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: What is your least favorite song on the Beatles LP A Hard Day's Night

Yes a somewhat better turnout for this question, nothing great, but much better over the week before’s numbers. “When I Get Home” was the song picked after the votes were all counted, with 25.2% of the votes.

To see the rest of the finishing order for this poll, click on: Beatle’s Weekly Poll – week 188. The top results from this poll will also show up on this page: Favorite/Least Favorite Beatle Songs per LP .

Thanks to all of you for voting in this week and last week’s polls! I hope all of you have a great upcoming week!
