12x5 isn't the Stones' strongest LP, and some may feel that it was a somewhat disappointing follow-up to that great debut album. But I like it, and picked it over the lackluster B&B. The inclusion of IAON on 12x5 would have been enough to tip that scale for me, but there are other songs on 12x5 which I really love. I can't say the same bout B&B.
Pink Floyd's "Time" in the first rock poll, with an honourable mention to the Beatles' "I Feel Fine", which I was going to pick until I saw the Floyd entry. I'm surprised that no one else has picked this song yet. The alarm going off, the bells, the ticking of the clock, and then the ominous piano notes... all strongly evocative of time passing. Brilliant!
Beatles version in the second rock poll. Another really strong Lennon lead vocal wins it for me. And, as Manny noted, the backing vocals are superb.
"A Hard Day's Night" is one of those albums where I like all the songs and never skip any. I ended up picking the somewhat maudlin "And I Love Her".
OT: Just thought I'd also mention in passing that today is the 37th anniversary of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash. A very sad day in music history.
